Trash and Recycling Service
Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste Services
The City of Brentwood operates its own Sanitation Department under the supervision and coordination of the Public Works Department. The Sanitation Department is responsible for the collection of trash, yard waste and recycling for single-family homes and Brentwood Forest Condominiums. This service is offered at no charge to residents.
Optional bulk pickup and additional collection days are available for a small fee.
Optional services at a discounted rate are available for residents in which the head of household is at least age 65 or for residents with a medical condition that prohibits them from placing refuse receptacles curbside. Proof of eligibility is required. Optional Services Discount Form
The City of Brentwood's Sanitation Department delivers collected trash items to Waste Connections' facility in Valley Park, Missouri.
Single-stream recycling is experiencing challenges due to increased stringent standards overseas and increasing recycling costs. Contamination in recyclable materials led China to impose stricter policies on the materials it would accept. This policy change raised costs for recycling processors and required Brentwood to find a new materials recycling facility when Waste Management closed its recycling center in late October 2018. The City of Brentwood's Sanitation Department now delivers the collected recycling items to Republic Services' materials recycling facility in Hazelwood, Missouri.
Residents can help sustain single-stream recycling services by knowing what to put in the recycling bin and what to leave out.
