January 13: Won't You Be My Neighbor (2018)

Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) Filmmaker Morgan Neville examines the life and legacy of Fred Rogers, the beloved host of the popular children's television show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Fred Rogers used puppets and play to explore complex social issues: race, disability, equality and tragedy, helping form the American concept of childhood. He spoke directly to children and they responded enthusiastically. Yet today, his impact is unclear. Have we lived up to Fred's ideal of good neighbors? Available through the Brentwood Public Library, St. Louis County Library. For Rental/Purchase though other streaming services.
